Capable of working throughout New Zealand's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in conditions ranging from subtropical to subantarctic, the NIWA Research Vessel Tangaroa is well equipped for a wide range of stock assessment work, through a range of rigorous conditions.
For the crew on board, a plentiful supply of fresh boiling and chilled filtered drinking water is an absolute necessity. The Billi Quadra turned out to be the best option, due to its compact size, (space is always at a premium on board ship) its energy efficiency, and its ability to provide the crew with all the drinking water they require.
There was one catch though—due to the unique operating conditions of the Tangaroa, a special model Billi would be required to be able to survive. Merquip readily indented a special model Billi that would be able to reliably provide the necessary drinking water to the crew, even under the demanding operating conditions that exist at sea in both subtropical and subantarctic locations.
